The original design of this steering rack allows water to collect in and around the area of the top pinion seal. Over time this causes corrosion of the pinion shaft, damaging the seal lip, allowing the seal to leak.   When Power Racks Direct remanufacture these steering racks the sealing area is modified to take a double seal arrangement which creates a space between the two sealing lips. This space is filled with a waterproof grease helping to eliminate corrosion in the area of the sealing surfaces and so extending product life expectancy.
